Happy as a Pig in Mud

I am a happy person. I always have been. Looking back, I think my parents nurtured my innate optimistic spirit. So even through hard times, I have managed to find happiness. When I graduated from high school my mom gave me the poem Desiderata, by Max Erhmann. She encouraged me to read it and find wisdom in the words. I didn't appreciate it that much at 18, but over the years it has become my guide for living my best life. The last words are..."and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. My paintings often reflect my joyful spirit. I am (mostly) happy as a pig in mud.
