Mice and Cornflowers
Mice and Cornflowers
8x8 oil on board with black wood floating frame
I think mice are very cute. I always have. My mom, who was a strong, resilient, brave woman, could be reduced to tears by one little mouse. We lived in the country and in the winter, mice would sometimes seek shelter inside. I remember one time mom actually stood on the kitchen table while a mouse explored our kitchen, and begged for someone to catch it. I used one of her favorite bowls to trap it, and that bowl was never seen again. Her fear was so real that as a small child I would empty the traps when my dad was away because mom just couldn’t do it. Mom never got to see my paintings, I started after she passed away, but I know she would have been my biggest fan and would have even liked Mice on Cornflowers.
