Just Hitching a Ride

We spent a lot of time in the marshes around North Myrtle Beach crabbing and exploring. We often watched the birds fishing along the shore. Sometimes they gulped down their catch before we could take a picture. Other times they would take flight with the fish and somewhere farther down the beach they would drop it. It was as if the fish were just hitching a ride to bluer water. Not sure that was the bird’s intention, but I always felt a little glad for the fish.
